Ram C Singh
CEO of Afiniate. Thinker Schemer Solver Guy

Ram co-founded Afiniate, Inc to solve business problems that require real-time data and complex event processing.  The resulting Platform as a Service (PaaS) deployable InsightEngine™ is based on two open source projects that Afiniate develops and maintains: (1) SERESYE, the Swarm-oriented ERlang Expert SYstem Engine, a library to write expert systems and rule processing engines that is an enhancement and fork of the original ERESYE project, and (2) Joxa, a small semantically clean, functional Erlang VM-based Lisp-1 that was designed to encourage a functional programming style and interactive development, and to simplify multithreaded programming.

Ram has 20+ years conceiving, implementing & deploying innovative technology and business solutions as an engineer, an entrepreneur, and as a consultant to Fortune 500 companies and Federal and state agencies. His current interests are to revolutionize IT infrastructure operations, banking customer financial services and patient healthcare outcomes, not necessarily in that order.

Ram C Singh is Giving the Following Talks
"Big Data” and the Future of DevOps

The hypothesis behind DevOps is that production and deployment risks decrease when Development understands the impact their code has on operations, and when Operations understands how the software was developed and why a new version has to be deployed. DevOps improves an IT organization’s collaboration, coordination, and management of releases by establishing best practices and automating processes. Decreasing deployment risks makes it possible to increase the speed in which new software can be deployed, thereby improving the business' overall agility.

But, the staff must still rely on traditional infrastructure operation visualization and analysis tools, and employ ad hoc, manually intensive processes in order identify anomalies, respond to failures, and keep the infrastructure operational day-to-day. This talk will explore ways to make better use of infrastructure “Big Data” to increase IT uptime, decrease total costs of ownership, and keep CIOs and their teams off the hot seat.

It has been said that Erlang if a perfect fit for cloud computing. Not only for developing applications, but also for powering cloud infrastructure. It has been used for cloud computing like applications and infrastructure a decade before the term was coined. The distributed and scalable nature of the cloud, both when implementing the underlying architecture and for applications running on them, fits Erlang like a glove. This track will at look at Erlang in the clouds from both sides.
