This track will explore the future of data and data architectures for performance, fault-tolerance and scalability. Exploring innovations in the future of databases, including cloud databases, noSQL, LeoFS, Genomu, Riak CS, Big Data analytics, semantics and linked data.

Erlang VM and Multi-Core, host: Robert Virding

In this track, you will learn from the leading experts and Erlang committers about new language constructs, virtual machine implementations and powerful libraries. Esoteric VM implementations are presented, alongside improvements and enhancements to the existing VM. You will learn how many of its features work and how to best use them to write fast and efficient code. If linear scalability on multi-core architectures is your thing, this is the track you will want to attend.

DevOps is a track looking at the emerging set of principles, methods and practices for communication, collaboration and integration between Software development and operations staff. Erlang old timers will say they have been doing DevOps for years, only calling it something different. This track looks at setting that record straight. It will cover tools, procedures and infrastructure needed in the management and deployment of Erlang systems.

Gone are the days of the mainframe; infrastructure software for the 21st Century needs to be distributed, scalable and flexible. How good useful is an effective big data analytics algorithm if you can not move the data cheaply and efficiently, or what is the point of an instant messaging cluster if it will not scale linearly with demand? The speakers in this track have used Erlang for messaging backbones, computing clouds and massive clusters, streaming media and instant messaging. Come and find out how, learning the tricks of the trade.

Next Generation Analytics/Erlang and the Web, host: Ville Tuulos

Next Generation Analytics:
The Next Generation Analytics track, explores the technical challenges of working with data sets that are too large for traditional tools. The reward for your efforts are new insights into concurrent distributed analytics of Big Data. This track takes you beyond map-reduce and combines new tools for cost-effective scalability and fault-tolerant analysis. Our speakers will discuss their experiences working with Big Data and offer guidance to help you be effective, as well.

Erlang and the Web:
As web services become ever more sophisticated and stateful and websockets and HTML5 a reality, we see a growing demand for back-end technologies enabling uninterrupted service, quick response time and complex logic. In response to this, a number of Erlang-based web frameworks and exciting Erlang-based web applications have seen the light. In this track, we take a closer look at some of them.

Erlang User Conference: Call for Talks open until 10 March

The conference will take place on 9-10 June. It will be followed by one day of tutorials on 11 June and 3 days of expert training on 11-13 June. 

We are currently accepting talk submissions for the Erlang User Conference 2014. If you have an interesting project you are working on or would like to share your knowledge, please submit your talk here. The deadline is 10th of March.
